MCH Alert

MCH AlertThe MCHalert is a free quarterly electronic newsletter that provides quick access to resources in five areas:

  1. From the Field showcases the latest trainings gathered by the MCH Navigator and resources collected by the MCH Digital Library.
  2. New from NCEMCH introduces new resources developed by the National Center for Education in MCH (NCEMCH) for immediate use in your daily work or research.
  3. What Works highlights evidence-linked resources from the MCH Evidence Center to ensure that your programs have impact with the communities you serve.
  4. Advancing Academics provides the latest news and resources from the Association of Teachers in MCH (ATMCH) for student and current/emerging teachers of MCH.
  5. Leveraging Learning shares implementation resources from the National MCH Workforce Development Center that lead to real-time impact and advance health equity.

We are pleased to share the newly reformatted MCHalert, which has been distributed by the National Center for Education in Maternal and Child Health (NCEMCH) since 1998 under various funding streams and in support of numerous federal initiatives – with a consistent goal of providing access to new resources, training materials, and program developments. We have heard from many of our 8,000 subscribers (and secondary distribution of over 40,000) that this is a critical means of communication for the MCH community, so we are excited to continue the MCHalert in support of current MCHB-funded projects at NCEMCH.

Summer 2024 Edition. Accelerating MCH Progress: Evidence, Partnerships, and Trauma-Informed Practices

  1. New from NCEMCH highlights the newly released MCH Evidence Accelerators focused on the new National Performance Measures (NPMs) and Standardized Measures (SMs).
  2. From the Field showcases the latest trainings gathered by the MCH Navigator and resources collected by the MCH Library.
  3. What Works introduces a new AMCHP webinar recording focused on the importance of Trauma-Informed Workplaces in Public Health.
  4. Advancing Academics provides the latest MCH CELL workshop highlighting The Art and Science of Teaching and Learning with Community Partners.
  5. Leveraging Learning shares the MCHwork issue on the Hexagon Tool — A Budgeting Perspective as a way to move from needs assessment to action.

Winter 2024 Edition. Advancing MCH Through Digital Archives and Innovative Teaching

  1. From the Field showcases the latest trainings gathered by the MCH Navigator and resources collected by the MCH Library.
  2. New from NCEMCH highlights over 300,000 pages of newly digitized historic resources from the Children's Bureau National Archives Collection.
  3. What Works provides new resources for the five-year needs assessment through MCHneeds.net.
  4. Advancing Academics announces the recipients of ATMCH's Innovative Teaching Awards, Mentorship Project, and a call for materials.
  5. Leveraging Learning shares the MCHwork issue on the Hexagon Tool as a way to move from needs assessment to action and new learning bundle on People with Lived Experience.
