New Mexico Department of Health, Office of Oral Health

Annotation: The New Mexico Office of Oral (OOH) Health goal is to increase the awareness of families, individuals, and organizations as to the importance of good oral health. The services provided by the Office of Oral Health are to reduce the incidence of and increase access for those who are experiencing dental disease along with promoting oral health as part of general health. Its mission is to ensure that all New Mexicans are provided opportunities for improving their oral health and overall health through access to prevention and treatment services and health education.

U.S. Office of the Surgeon General

Annotation: The Office of the Surgeon General, part of the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Public Health and Science, works to protect, advance, and improve the health of the United States through educating the public, advocating for effective disease prevention and health promotion programs and activities, and providing scientifically based health policy analysis and advice to the President and the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) on health, medical, and health system issues. The Surgeon General's Office also oversees the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, public health professionals who respond to both current and long-term health needs of the country and are responsible for emergency preparedness and response activities in the event of a public health emergency. An online library provides access to information on the Healthy People initiative as well as links to reports, press releases, conference proceedings, and full text copies of the Surgeon General's speeches and statements.

Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care

Annotation: The work of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is to establish a patient-focused, results-driven, integrated and sustainable publicly funded health system. Its plan for building a sustainable public health care system in Ontario is based on helping people stay healthy, delivering good care when people need it, and protecting the health system for future generations. Sacramento County Department of Health Services, Public Health Division

San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Section

Annotation: The Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Section mission is to improve pregnancy outcomes and child health and development by promoting family and community health and service provider participation and responsibility. Client-centered services are based on the following five points of action: (1) it is everyone’s responsibility to improve pregnancy and child health outcomes, including staff, the government, community, home, and individuals working together to improve the health of pregnant women and to protect the health and survival of our children; (2) improve the community’s knowledge base and skill level; (3) link pregnant and parenting women with the resources and services they need; (4) focus on factors known to impact pregnancy and infant health outcomes, such as substance abuse, dental disease prevention, adequate spacing between pregnancies, vaginal infections like bacterial vaginosis, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and breastfeeding; and (5) promote and follow best practice medical standards for client screening, education and treatment.

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health (OASH)

U.S. Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Division of Child, Adolescent, and Family Health (MCHB DCAFH)

Annotation: The Division of Child, Adolescent and Family Health (DCAFH) is one of five divisions in the Health Resources and Services Administration's (HRSA) Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB). The division focuses on improving health care for America's children and adolescents. Its preventive and primary care programs raise national awareness of such issues as the need for safe and healthy out-of-home childcare and the special emergency medical needs of children. Strategies include promoting national campaigns on safety and violence prevention that have proven effective in reducing illness, injury, and death among children and adolescents. DCAFH takes a lead role in encouraging comprehensive, community-based health care that combines public and private resources and promotes environments where healthy behaviors can develop.

UCLA Center for Health Policy Research

United States - Mexico Border Health Commission (USMBHC)

Annotation: The United States-Mexico Border Health Commission (USMBHC) provides international leadership in efforts to identify key health issues in the U.S.-Mexico border region and develop programs to address specific problems. USMBHC organizes work groups and conferences; advocates for health improvements; and promotes public awareness. The commission also provides news and information on legislative action, immunization efforts, and other relevant topics and provides an electronic newsletter. USMBHC is comprised of the federal secretaries of health, the chief health officers of the ten border states, and prominent community health professionals from both nations. The commission was created as a binational health commission in 2000 with the signing of an agreement by the Secretary of Health of Mexico and the Secretary of Health and Human Services of the United States. In Dec. 2004 the commission was designated as a Public International Organization by Executive Order of the President. Its publications are available in English and Spanish.
