Early Childhood Data Collaborative (ECDC)

Annotation: The Early Childhood Data Collaborative (ECDC) supports state policymakers’ development and use of coordinated state early care and education (ECE) data systems to improve the quality of ECE programs and the workforce, increase access to high-quality ECE programs, and ultimately improve child outcomes. The ECDC provides tools and resources to encourage state policy change and provides a national forum to support the development and use of coordinated state ECE data systems. The ECDC is supported through funding from the Alliance for Early Success, the Pew Charitable Trusts, and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

Early Intervention Program /The Arc -- Baton Rouge (EIP)

Annotation: The Early Intervention Program (EIP) provides educational and other services to Louisiana children 0–3 years old with developmental disabilities, including direct services, information, support, and statewide referrals. The program also provides in-service training and technical assistance on developmental disabilities and early education, publishes a newsletter, and maintains a library of information on Down syndrome, early intervention, and developmental disabilities. EIP also provides an Inclusive Day School; a learning center for typical and special needs children (ages 6 weeks to 6 years).

Health Outreach Partners

Annotation: Health Outreach Partners (HOP) is a national non-profit health organization providing training, consultation, and information services to community-based organizations striving to improve the quality of life of hard-to-reach populations. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)

Annotation: The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is the lead U. S. Department of Health and Human Services agency for improving access to health care for individuals and families nationwide. The agency includes the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, which funds the Maternal and Child Health Block Grant, Special Projects of Regional and National Significance (SPRANS) activities and the Healthy Start Program. Healthy Eating Research

Annotation: Healthy Eating Research (HER) is a national program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. HER supports research to identify, analyze, and evaluate environmental and policy strategies that can promote healthy eating among children and prevent childhood obesity. Special emphasis is given to research projects that benefit children and adolescents and their families, especially in lower-income and racial and ethnic populations at highest risk for obesity.

Indiana University Center for Health Policy

Annotation: The Indiana Center for Health Policy (CHP), created in 2006, is housed at the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Health. The CHP faculty and staff collaborate with state and local governments, as well as public and private health care organizations in health policy and program development to conduct high quality program evaluation and applied research on critical health policy-related issues. CHP serves as a bridge between academic health researchers and state and local government as well as health care organizations and community leaders.

Institute for Child Health Policy (ICHP)

Annotation: The Institute for Child Health Policy works to improve the health status of infants and children by integrating intellectual and organizational resources of the state university system to assist in the formulation and evaluation of health policies, programs, and systems. A major division of the Institute is the Center for Policy and Program Coordination, funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The institute sponsors conferences and training seminars and publishes a newsletter. Topics include Children's Medical Services, Florida's Healthy Kids, Florida KidCare, child health financing and reimbursement, and telehealth. Some materials are available in Spanish.

Kids as Self Advocates (KASA)

Annotation: Kids as Self Advocates (KASA), a project of Family Voices co-sponsored by the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund and the U.S. Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB), is a national network made up of adolescents with special health care needs and their families and friends. KASA's mission is to educate society about issues concerning youth with disabilities and special health care needs and works to empower youth to learn how to self-advocate. KASA also assists with building support networks for youth with special needs to share information with their peers. Members of KASA serve as youth advisors to Family Voices and work to educate policymakers, medical students, physicians, and fellow students on issues such as living with special health care needs, health care transition, education, and employment. The organization publishes a newsletter, sponsors a listservice and an electronic bulletin board and offers payment to youth for Web site contributions. KASA also operates the KASA National Youth Information, Training, and Resource Center with funding from the Administration on Developmental Disabilities.

Konopka Institute for Best Practices in Adolescent Health

Annotation: The Konopka Institute for Best Practices in Adolescent Health works to promote strategies, policies and systems to improve the health of adolescents in the state of Minnesota through providing program and policy support to the youth-serving community. The institute, located within the University of Minnesota's Center for Adolescent Health and Development, serves as a point of access to new research and to subject specialists in adolescent health both at the University of Minnesota and in the community. Programmatic information and tools are provided for use at the state and local level. Publications offered include research papers and policy briefs. The institute's Web site includes definitions of terminology and links to numerous organizations related to adolescent health.

Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC)

Annotation: The Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) assists community development corporations (CDC's) in their efforts to transform distressed neighborhoods into healthy communities. LISC supports CDC's in the development of affordable housing, vital commercial facilities, and job-creating industrial projects. It works on three levels: providing direct assistance to individual CDC's; improving local community development support systems; and strengthening national support for community development.

The MCHIRC is funded by the Maternal and Child Health Bureau. McMillen Health

Mississippi State Department of Health, Division of Dental Services

Annotation: The National Association of State Directors of Developmental Disabilities Services (NASDDDS), formerly the National Association of State Retardation Program Directors, represents the interests of state program officials in the development and implementation of federal government programs. National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC)

Annotation: The purpose of the National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) is to increase the capacity of health and mental health programs to design, implement, and evaluate culturally and linguistically competent service delivery systems.
