National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare (NCSACW)

Annotation: The National Center on Substance Abuse and Child Welfare (NCSACW) provides information, consultation, and in-depth training and technical assistance to child welfare, dependency court, and substance abuse treatment professionals working with families affected by substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders and child abuse or neglect. The center supports cross-system collaboration and works to enhance policy and practice to support information sharing and coordination among organizations that engage families in timely, appropriate, and effective services. A wide variety of online resources, including publications, presentations, and tutorials, are available on the website. NCSACW is jointly funded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) and the Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF), Children's Bureau's Office on Child Abuse and Neglect (OCAN).

Office of Minority Health (OMH)

Annotation: The Office of Minority Health (OMH) was created in 1986 and is one of the most significant outcomes of the 1985 Secretary's Task Force Report on Black and Minority Health. The office is dedicated to improving the health and healthcare outcomes for racial and ethnic minority communities by developing or advancing policies, programs, and practices that address health, social, economic, environmental, and other factors which impact health. OMH programs address disease prevention, health promotion, risk reduction, healthier lifestyle choices, use of health care services, and barriers to health care. The OMH National Partnership for Action works to improve nationwide cohesion and coordination of strategies and actions to eliminate disparities and achieve equity. The OMH also offers a portfolio of cultural competency training.

Public Health Quality Improvement Exchange (PHQIX)

Annotation: The Public Health Quality Improvement Exchange (PHQIX) is an online community designed to be a communication hub for public health professionals interested in learning and sharing information about quality improvement (QI) in public health. PHQIX publishes an electronic newsletter; provides links to quality improvement resources; and posts quality improvement initiatives submitted from communities across the country. It is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Resource Center for Community Health Assessments and Community Health Improvement Plans (CHA/CHIP Resource Center)

Annotation: The Resource Center for Community Health Assessments and Community Health Improvement Plans (CHA/CHIP Resource Center) supports local health departments and their partners in completing community health improvement processes, including community health assessments and community health improvement plans, in efforts to improve the health of local communities. The center provides resources and customizable tools to health departments in a central and publicly accessible location. Available materials include items developed by health department demonstration sites to complete community health assessments and community health improvement plans for accreditation preparation.

Resource Center for Evidence-Based Prevention and Cross-Sector Approaches

Annotation: The Resource Center for Evidence-Based Prevention and Cross-Sector Approaches offers local health departments guidance for integrating the National Prevention Strategy, Healthy People 2020, The Community Guide, the National Association of County and City Health Officials' Health in All Policies Toolbox, and Community Health Improvement Planning into a uniform approach for achieving health and wellness in the jurisdictions they serve. U.S. Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS)
