The commission receives safety-related complaints about these products through its toll-free hotline or its website. Safety-related publications can be downloaded from CPSC's Electronic Reading Room (searchable by subject) or ordered, free-of-charge, in print formats. Many materials are available in Spanish, Chinese, Tagalog, Korean, and Portuguese. The website also provides access to consumer product-related statistics and the National Electronic Surveillance System( a national probability sample of hospitals in the U.S.). A special section of the website is designed for children.

Annotation: Founded in 1913, the National Safety Council (NSC) is a federally chartered nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect life and promote health. NSC sponsors many conferences which address safety and health issues in the workplace, at home, on the road, in schools, and through both work and leisure activities. The National Safety Council works with public and private sectors, providing training programs that focus on first aid and occupational health and safety, outreach and educational activities, public service efforts and consulting, and through educational materials including Safety and Health and Family Safety & Health magazines and The Journal of Safety Research. NSC maintains a library and provides materials for educators, professionals, children, and the general public covering topics such as air quality, climate change, hazardous chemicals, radioactive waste, and children's environmental health.

Annotation: The Pedestrian and Bicycle Information Center (PBIC)'s mission is to improve the quality of life in communities through the increase of safe walking and bicycling as a viable means of transportation and physical activity. Through Web sites, information and training is offered to diverse audiences about health and safety, engineering, advocacy, education, enforcement, access, and mobility as it relates to pedestrians and bicyclists. The PBIC is funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
