FosterClub

Annotation: FosterClub is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that supports youth in care by providing information about how foster care works, connecting them to peers and other resources in their community, and providing guidance on self-advocacy within the system and in the foster home. FosterClub also supports foster parents, child welfare professionals, and concerned citizens through connections to mentoring or coaching opportunities. The website provides access to research, stories, and discussion groups on topics such as adoption, sex trafficking, grief, healthy relationships, and transitioning. Information about training and state resources are also included.

National Early Childhood Transition Center

Annotation: The National Early Childhood Transition Center's mission is to examine factors that promote successful transitions between infant/toddler programs, preschool programs, and public school programs for young children with disabilities and their families. The primary objective of NECTC is to investigate and validate practices and strategies that enhance the early childhood transition process and support positive school outcomes for children with disabilities.

PACER Center

Annotation: The PACER Center is a parent training and information center for families of children and youth with all disabilities from birth through 21 years old. Located in Minneapolis, PACER provides information, support, workshops, and referrals to families and professionals in Minnesota and across the country. The organization sponsors conferences, produces a variety of publications (with some materials available in Spanish and Asian languages), and develops and develops specialized websites. PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center provides resources designed to benefit all students, including those with disabilities.

Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Workplace Supports (RRTC)

Annotation: The purpose of the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Workplace Supports (RRTC) is to identify factors that enhance or inhibit businesses from employing people with disabilities. The researchprogram is based on a close collaborative relationship with business organizations and is designed to study: return to work strategies for persons who become disabled while employed; key components of effective disability management programs; financial tax credits to encourage hiring, retention, and advancement; the impact of work support interventions on employment and advancement; employer perceptions of obstacles to hiring and retaining; and the significance of structural changes in the American economy on people with disabilities. RRTC provides organized and cost effective designs for training that offers diversity and flexibility to its customers, including university courses; self-paced modules;teleconferences ; newsletter ; online courses; fast facts on workplace supports; seminars/workshops; state-of-the-science conference; regional conferences. RRTC offers inquiry responses, publications, reference information, searchable databases, training seminars, and workshops. An e-mail newsletter is available to anyone interested in employment for people with disabilities.

Smiles for Success: A Foundation of the American Association of Women Dentists

Annotation: The Smiles for Success Foundation was formed by the American Association of Women Dentists to assist women in transition who cannot afford the cost of oral health care. The foundation offers cost-free oral health care to women graduates of accredited job readiness and placement programs, or other community-based agencies, religious institutions or rehabilitative systems. Smiles for Success educates and instructs women treated by the volunteer dentists, so that they and their families will then seek and maintain permanent oral health care as they become financially stable.

University of Southern California School of Social Work, Center for Innovation and Research on Veterans and Military Families (CIR)

Annotation: The Center for Innovation and Research on Veterans and Military Families endeavors to strengthen the transition of veterans and their families into the community. Through four pillars—research, innovation, education/training and partnerships —CIR informs policymakers, trains providers, builds community networks and capacity, and drives applied research toward improving the lives of community-dwelling veterans and their families, with an emphasis on promising interventions that have broad applicability and scalability. With the help of its many partners and collaborators, CIR works to increase the capacity and competency of behavioral healthcare providers by informing and developing innovative education and training, and conducting research that directly addresses the transitions of military-impacted populations.
