U.S. Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality , Health Care Innovations Exchange (AHRQ Health Care Innovations Exhcnage)

Annotation: The AHRQ Health Care Innovations Exchange is a central repository of ideas and tools for assessing, measuring, promoting, and improving the quality of health care; a standardized description of innovations and quality tools; and opportunities for learning and networking. The site’s content may be browsed by single or multiple subjects including client population, stage of care, setting of care, client care process, Institute of Medicine domains of quality, organizational purpose, and disease or clinical category. Resources to inform and guide efforts, instructions for submitting an innovation, and information about funding opportunities are also provided.

Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM)

Annotation: The Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) is a national alliance to promote consistent and safe maternity care to reduce maternal mortality. AIM collaborates with participating states and a large number of hospitals and hospital systems across the U.S. to initiate or improve a culture of maternal safety through continuous quality improvement cycles. The purpose of the AIM program is to equip, empower and embolden every state, perinatal quality collaborative, hospital network/system, birth facility and maternity care provider in the U.S to significantly reduce severe maternal morbidity and maternal mortality through proven implementation of consistent maternity care practices that are outlined in maternal safety bundles (action systems). The AIM Program is designed to complement current maternal safety initiatives in progress, as well as drive continuous quality improvement on a state and birth facility level. It is funded through the U.S. Maternal and Child Health Bureau.

American Society for Quality Improvement

Annotation: The American Society for Quality (ASQ) is a quality improvement organization that offers concepts, tools, training, and technologies aimed at creating better workplaces and communities worldwide. The website includes an A-to-Z quide to quality-related terminology and a wide variety of publications, online training tools, and certification programs. ASQ also sponsors conferences and other educational events.

Center for Public Health Quality (CPHQ)

Annotation: The Center for Public Health Quality (CPHQ) collaborates to local, state, and national partners in efforts to support continuous quality improvement within the public health system. CPHQ provides training programs; consultation and technical support; and a variety of resources and publications, including a quality improvement toolkit.

Child and Family Policy Center (CFPC)

Annotation: The Child and Family Policy Center (CFPC) is a nonprofit research and advocacy organization promoting outcome-based policies that improve child well-being. The center focuses on a range of policy areas in Iowa, including child care and early education, health and well-being, and family economic success. CFPC also conducts national evaluation work focused on early-childhood system building and policy development promoting comprehensive, asset-based approaches to supporting children and families.

Early Childhood Data Collaborative (ECDC)

Annotation: The Early Childhood Data Collaborative (ECDC) supports state policymakers’ development and use of coordinated state early care and education (ECE) data systems to improve the quality of ECE programs and the workforce, increase access to high-quality ECE programs, and ultimately improve child outcomes. The ECDC provides tools and resources to encourage state policy change and provides a national forum to support the development and use of coordinated state ECE data systems. The ECDC is supported through funding from the Alliance for Early Success, the Pew Charitable Trusts, and the David and Lucile Packard Foundation.

Early Childhood Education Linkage System-Healthy Child Care Pennsylvania (ECELS-Healthy Childcare PA)

Annotation: The Early Childhood Education Linkage System-Healthy Child Care Pennsylvania (ECELS-Healthy Child Care PA) provides professional consultation, training, and technical assistance to improve early education and child care in Pennsylvania. Since December 1989, the PA Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics has operated the ECELS linking the resources of government, early childhood educators, and health professionals. Now operating Healthy Child Care America Pennsylvania, ECELS offers opportunities for professional development to PA early learning and child care practitioners. Resources include tools, fact sheets, a/v lending library, calendar of events, self-learning modules and workshops, and e-mail alerts.

Health Care Communities (HC)

Annotation: Healthcare Communities is a web-based knowledge management system and community portal that supports health care transformation. The site has features that facilitate the quality improvement efforts of organizations and individuals by enabling them to share their knowledge, resources, and experiences. These features include: document sharing, announcements, topic-specific listservs and forums, social media connections, a quality improvement resource library, a video library, a calendaring function, and where applicable, access to a secure data reporting site used to measure performance in both small and large improvement initiatives.

Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI)

Annotation: The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) is an independent not-for-profit organization working to improve the health of individuals and populations by innovating, convening, partnering, and driving results in health and health care improvement worldwide. IHI's work is focused on the following five areas: improvement capacity; person- and family-centered care; patient safety; quality, cost, and value; and Triple Aim for populations. Services include in-person and virtual training, audio and video programs, publications, and an international network of chapters.

Joint Commission (JCAHO)

Annotation: The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization that accredits and certifies health care organizations and programs in the United States. Joint Commission accreditation and certification are recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization's commitment to meeting certain performance standards. Topics include emergency management, reliability, health care-associated infections and infection control, pain management, patient safety, and transitions of care. Resources include accountability measures, fact sheets, forms, manuals, monographs, papers, podcasts, reports, and videos. A blog, newsletters, sentinel event alerts, and speakers bureau are also available from the website.

Massachusetts Health Quality Partners

Annotation: Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP) is an independent, non-profit organization that brings together key stakeholder groups (providers, payers and patients) in Massachusetts healthcare to help provider organizations, health plans and policy makers improve the quality of patient care experiences throughout the state. Its efforts include (1) measuring and publicly reporting non-biased, trusted and comparable patient experience data; (2) sharing tools, guidelines and best practices to help support improvement efforts; and (3) catalyzing collaboration to find breakthrough solutions to shared challenges.

National Center on Child Care Quality Improvement (NCCCQI)

Annotation: The National Center on Child Care Quality Improvement (NCCCQI) delivers technical assistance to support Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) state and territory grantees in developing and enhancing quality improvement efforts including Quality Rating and Improvement Systems (QRIS) to strengthen licensing and health and safety standards. Activities include planning quality goals, identifying and sharing promising practices, and partnering with others to address early childhood-related cross-sector system issues and to identify knowledge gaps. NCCCQI is a service of the U.S. Office of Child Care.

National Network of Perinatal Quality Collaboratives

Annotation: The National Network of Perinatal Quality Collaboratives (NNPQC) provides resources and expertise to nationwide state-based perinatal quality collaboratives (PQCs) with the goal of deepening and accelerating improvement efforts for maternal and infant health outcomes The mission of the NNPQC is to support the development and enhance the ability of state perinatal quality collaboratives to make measurable improvements in statewide maternal and infant healthcare and health outcomes.

Public Health Quality Improvement Exchange (PHQIX)

Annotation: The Public Health Quality Improvement Exchange (PHQIX) is an online community designed to be a communication hub for public health professionals interested in learning and sharing information about quality improvement (QI) in public health. PHQIX publishes an electronic newsletter; provides links to quality improvement resources; and posts quality improvement initiatives submitted from communities across the country. It is funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
