Annotation: The American Academy of Pediatric's Pediatric History Center documents the story of the advancement in caring for children and meeting their special needs. The center includes oral histories, archival documents, artifacts, historical publications and papers, and the archives of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

American Dental Association, Give Kids a Smile! (GKAS)

Annotation: The American Dental Association's Give Kids a Smile Children's Dental Access Program (GKAS) is a professional and industry alliance dedicated to the elimination of cavities in U.S. five year olds by 2020 by nurturing and enhancing community-based children's oral health and wellness programs that are expandable, sustainable, and innovative. Each year on the first Friday in February, dental teams provide free oral health care services to children from families with low incomes across the country. The GKAS website provides a planning toolbox for local programs, resources and reports, information about sponsors and products, and frequently asked questions.

Anderson Center for Oral Health

Annotation: The Anderson Center for Oral Health comprises a collection of pediatric oral health care programs. The center was established in 1996 to improve the oral health of all children in San Diego County, California, and particularly those with early childhood caries (ECC), disabilities, or complex medical conditions. Services include community and professional education, advocacy, treatment, and research. It was previously called the Anderson Center for Dental Care.

District of Columbia, Dental Services

Annotation: The District of Columbia Department of Health (DC DOH) Dental Services sponsors a school-based oral health program (SBOHP) that provides onsite access to care for children at-risk for not receiving oral health services. The program provides free basic dental services to children at partnering public schools, public charter schools, and Head Start and early childhood learning centers. Participating schools/sites must have at least 50% of its student population enrolled in the national free or reduced-price lunch program. Services are provided to children onsite using portable dental units and include dental sealant application, fluoride treatment, dental screenings and dental prophylaxis (cleanings), oral health literacy, education and promotion, and dental referrals. Services are provided by licensed dentists and/or oral health educators. All children must have a signed parental consent form in order to receive services. Students who need more advanced care are referred to dental clinics and dental offices for further treatment. All new school-based health centers include dental services.

Future Smiles

Annotation: Future Smiles is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides oral hygiene and disease prevention services at local schools, Family Enrichment Centers, health fairs, and other community events in southern Nevada. Restorative care is referred out to the community through a network of oral health professionals who collaborate with Future Smiles. Futures Smiles' mobile school-based dental sealant program, operates at three sites. They also participate in community health fairs and oral health presentations, along with school-based brush-at-lunch programs.

KinderSmile Foundation

Annotation: The KinderSmile Foundation is a community-based affiliate of the National Children's Oral Health Foundation that advocates for optimal oral health for children and families in underserved communities in New Jersey. The foundation's community-based services include oral health education for children, parents, and caregivers; oral examinations and referrals for pregnant women and new mothers; and opportunities for community service learning for high school and college students. The foundation also facilitates an annual oral health fair.

Annotation: The mission of the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) State Oral Health Program is to promote, protect, maintain and improve oral health because it is integral to the health of all Minnesotans. The program supports community water fluoridation, collects data on the status of several population groups in the state, works to develop a statewide, coordinated school-based dental sealant program, and partners to promote dental health in Minnesota’s pregnant women, infants and toddlers.

Annotation: The Mississippi State Department of Health's Division of Dental Services was established to ensure optimal oral health for every citizen of Mississippi. The Division of Dental Services is responsible for the prevention and control of oral diseases through assessment, policy and program development, and assurance. Programs address children, adults, families, and communities through public health clinics, schools, and approved dental health providers.

National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP)

Annotation: The National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion is a component of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Divisions of the center that are relevant to maternal and child health include the Division of Adolescent and School Health, Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity, Division of Diabetes Translation, Division of Cancer Prevention and Control, Division of Reproductive Health, Division of Oral Health, and Office on Smoking and Health.

Annotation: The National Children's Oral Health Foundation (NCOHF) provides technical and financial support for community-based pediatric oral health services, including prevention, education, and treatment services. Members include health professionals and other leaders representing the oral health industry, philanthropists, and professional and non-profit organizations. The foundation serves as a child oral health advocate by providing resources to enable pediatric oral health facilities to expand and enhance operational and educational capacity in underserved areas nationwide.

National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias (NFED)

Annotation: The National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasias (NFED) empowers and connects people touched by ectodermal dysplasias through education, support, and research. NFED provides information to families, caregivers, researchers, teachers, coaches, and others. The foundation partners with universities and private practices across the United States to increase access to quality and affordable health care for individuals affected by ectodermal dysplasias including oral health care. NFED publishes a quarterly newsletter, a medical guide series, children's books, and more.
