Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care

Annotation: The work of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is to establish a patient-focused, results-driven, integrated and sustainable publicly funded health system. Its plan for building a sustainable public health care system in Ontario is based on helping people stay healthy, delivering good care when people need it, and protecting the health system for future generations. The ministry is involved in establishing overall strategic direction and provincial priorities for the health system; developing legislation, regulations, standards, policies, and directives to support those strategic directions; monitoring and reporting on the performance of the health system and the health of Ontarians; planning for and establishing funding models and levels of funding for the health care system; and ensuring that ministry and system strategic directions and expectations are fulfilled.
