Heartland Regional Genetics and Newborn Screening Collaborative

Annotation: The Heartland Regional Genetics and Newborn Screening Collaborative -- formerly the Great Plains Regional Network -- encompasses the eight states of Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and South Dakota, all working together to promote access to quality clinical genetic services, genetic testing, and public health programs for the citizens of the states within the Heartland collaborative. The collaborative works to improve access to expanded newborn screening, professional and public genetics literacy, equitable access to genetics evaluation, counseling and testing services, and cooperation between neighboring states within the region. The collaborative aims to facilitate and promote collaboration, assessment, planning, program development and evaluation, education, research and public policy activities related to these issues. The web site is designed to facilitate communication within the collaborative and to inform the collaborative of regional genetics resources, projects and events. The collaborative is one of seven Genetics and Newborn Screening Regional Collaborative Groups (RCs) designated by the Genetics Services Branch, Bureau of Maternal and Child Health, Health Resources and Services Administration in 2004.

North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services

Annotation: The North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services is dedicated to making North Dakota a healthier place to live. The Department consists of seven sections: administrative support, medical services, community health, health resources, environmental health, emergency preparedness and response, special populations.

North Dakota State Library (NDSL)

Annotation: The North Dakota State Library provides information to all North Dakota citizens, coordinates the interlibrary loan process for the state, assists the reference departments of other libraries of North Dakota, offers continuing education classes, administers Library Services Construction Act funds, offers services to the blind and physically handicapped populations, and assists with the development of libraries in North Dakota. Some materials are available in Spanish, French, Asian and other languages. The organization publishes a newsletter and sponsors training seminars.

University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Center for Rural Health (CRH)

Annotation: The University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences' Center for Rural Health (CRH) connects resources and knowledge to strengthen the health of people in rural and tribal communities. The center's programs serve people within North Dakota, the region, and the nation. Resources include fact sheets, reports, journal articles, policy briefs, testimony, newsletters and updates, state maps on a variety of rural health topics, and presentations. The center was established in 1980 and is a federally designated State Office of Rural Health for North Dakota.

Annotation: The University of North Dakota (UND) Scholarly Commons is UND’s institutional repository. It is administered by the Chester Fritz Library and provides a unified institutional home for research conducted at UND.
