New England Genetics Collaborative (NEGC )

Annotation: The New England Genetics Collaborative (NEGC) works to promote and improve the health and social well-being of those with inherited conditions through collaborations among public health professionals, private health professionals, educators, consumers and advocates in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut. The primary goal of the NEGC is to assure that individuals with genetic disorders and their families have access to quality care and appropriate genetic expertise and information in the context of a medical home that provides accessible, family-centered, continuous, comprehensive, coordinated, compassionate, and culturally effective care. NEGC provides online educational materials, a regional resource directory, and links to other genetics centers. The NEGC is a partnership between the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, the New Hampshire Institute for Health Policy and Practice, and the University of New Hampshire Institute on Disability. The collaborative is supported by a cooperative agreement with the US Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration, Maternal and Child Health Bureau, Genetic Services Branch.

New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services, Oral Health Program

Annotation: The New Hampshire Oral Health Program began in 1997 with a federal grant to support fluoridation initiatives and to re-establish the need for statewide oral health services as a priority for all stakeholders.  The Oral Health Program focuses resources on efforts to achieve improvements in oral health outcomes by improving access to dental care in concert with NH's Healthy Kids program, private foundations, dental professionals and community organizations.  In addition to support for school-based preventive programs and community-based dental clinics, programmatic activities include the promotion of community water fluoridation to communities that request assistance from the Oral Health Program. The Oral Health Program contracts with agencies throughout NH to evaluate and treat residents. Working within Rural Health & Primary Care, the Oral Health Program helps to identify Dental Health Professional Shortage Areas and establish loan repayment agreements to recruit dentists and hygienists to work in underserved areas of NH.

New Hampshire Department of Justice, Child Fatality Review Committee

Annotation: The Child Fatality Review Committee (CFRC) was created by Executive Order in 1991 to reduce preventable child fatalities through systemic multidisciplinary review of child fatalities in New Hampshire; through multidisciplinary training and community based prevention education; and through data-driven recommendations for legislation and public policy. The Committee membership is comprised of representation from the medical, law enforcement, judicial, legal, victim services, public health, mental health, child protection and education communities. The Committee began reviewing cases of child fatalities in 1996 to identify risk factors related to deaths and make recommendations aimed at improving systematic responses in an effort to prevent similar deaths in the future. The Committee provides the recommendations to the participating agencies and asks them to take actions consistent with their own mandates. The Committee publishes the recommendation and the agency responses to those recommendations in an Annual Report.

New Hampshire Oral Health Coalition (NOHC)

Annotation: The New Hampshire Oral Health Coalition's mission is to advance and promote oral health for the people of New Hampshire. Advocacy topics include community water fluoridation and the Medicaid adult dental benefit. Initiatives include an HPV vaccine toolkit for dental offices and promotion of the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment evidence based-practice. Training and educational resources are provided.

New Hampshire State Library

Annotation: The New Hampshire State Library maintains a collection which serves the state government agencies and legislature and is a resource for other libraries in New Hampshire. It is a depository for state government publications and selected federal documents. It also has a Family Resource Connection, a clearinghouse of books, videos, periodicals and other information to help parents care for and raise healthy children, including children with special needs, which is funded by the state Departments of Education and of Health and Human Services.

The MCH Digital Library is one of six special collections at Geogetown University, the nation's oldest Jesuit institution of higher education.
