Annotation: Aiding Mothers and Fathers Experiencing Neonatal Death (AMEND) offers support and encouragement to parents who have lost an infant. Bereaved parents have one-to-one contact with a trained counselor who has also experienced a loss due to miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death. Several local chapters exist without formal national affiliation. St. Louis AMEND was established in 1974. Los Angeles AMEND was established in 1977 and can be reached at P.O. Annotation: The Sudden Infant Death Network of Ohio was selected to act as the agent of Ohio Department of Health to assure parents are offered bereavement and supportive services and to monitor and assure that coroners and local health departments (LHDs) are compliant in responding to SIDS. The mission of the SID Network of Ohio is to work towards the reduction and eventual elimination of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) through a multidisciplinary approach of promoting infant health and wellness, community outreach, education and training, and medical research. In addition, the SID Network is dedicated to providing supportive services to those who have been affected by the loss of a child, age 2 and under, from SIDS or other sudden infant death.

Annotation: Sudden Infant Death Services of Illinois (SIDS of Illinois) is dedicated to the prevention and eventual elimination of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and other causes of infant death through through educational initiatives stressing proven risk reduction strategies. Activities include reducing infant mortality by decreasing the incidence of infant deaths due to SIDS, accidental suffocation, overlay, entrapment, metabolic disorders, and other accidental causes; improving the quantity and quality of comprehensive, family-centered bereavement services for those impacted by a sudden pediatric death; and training professionals throughout Illinois who are likely to encounter cases of sudden pediatric death to better assist newly grieving families. Information on services and materials are available from the Web site for parents, children, friends, grandparents, as well as professionals.
