Center for Juvenile Justice Reform and Systems Integration

Annotation: The Center for Juvenile Justice Reform and Systems Integration, part of the Georgetown Public Policy Institute, will support scholarship and discourse on issues relating to juvenile justice reform. Announced in April 2007, the center will sponsor academic programs and symposia for government leaders involved in juvenile justice policy and practice. The center will also publish research addressing emerging issues in the juvenile justice system, including the effective prevention of delinquency, detention alternatives, adequate representation of counsel, education and health services, and gender specific programs for girls. The center is supported through a grant from the Jessie Ball duPont Fund.

Coalition for Juvenile Justice (CJJ)

Annotation: Coalition for Juvenile Justice was formerly known as the National Coalition of State Juvenile Justice Advisory Groups. Publications include a newsletter and an annual report. In addition, the organization provides reference information and sponsors conferences, training seminars, and workshops.

National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention

Annotation: The National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention was established in 2010 as a public-private partnership advancing the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (NSSP). The alliance champions suicide prevention as a national priority, catalyzes efforts to implement high priority objectives of the NSSP, and cultivates the resources needed to sustain progress. Activities include developing a prioritized research agenda; preparing the clinical work force to care for individuals who are suicidal; transforming health care delivery for individuals at highest risk for suicide; incorporating suicide prevention into health care reform; advancing suicide prevention for military, veterans, and their families; enhancing suicide prevention with the juvenile justice system; and promoting suicide prevention in the workplace to CEOs by developing a comprehensive business case.

National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice (NCMHJJ)

Annotation: The National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice (NCMHJJ) serves as a national resource for the collection and dissemination of evidence-based and best-practice information to improve services for youth involved with the juvenile justice system who have mental health problems. The center conduct research and evaluation to fill gaps in the existing knowledge base and fosters systems and policy changes at the national, state and local levels. A key aspect of the center's mission is to provide practical assistance to all persons interested in mental health and juvenile justice issues. Resources include a compendium of effective and innovative programs and policies; a list of experts and technical assistance resources; and publications that synthesize existing knowledge.

National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD)

Annotation: The National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD) is a nonprofit organization committed to developing and promoting criminal and juvenile justice strategies that are fair, humane, effective, and economically sound. The goal of the council is to help federal and state officials, criminal justice professionals, and community organizations implement programs that will improve the criminal justice system. It provides innovative and cost-effective strategies to help administrators and criminal justice professionals manage corrections systems more effectively. Activities include consulting and advocacy programs and publications. NCCD also publishes a newsletter and journal and sponsors training seminars.

National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS)

Annotation: The National Criminal Justice Reference Service (NCJRS) is a Federal Information Exchange on criminal justice, juvenile justice, and drug policy. NCJRS shares resources through a toll-free number, online resources, conferences, and mailings. Services include referrals, reference information, and publications (including a catalog).
