National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME)

Annotation: The National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) is the national professional organization of physician medical examiners, medical death investigators and death investigation system administrators who perform the official duties of the medicolegal investigation of deaths of public interest in the United States. NAME was founded in 1966 with the dual purposes of fostering the professional growth of physician death investigators and disseminating the professional and technical information vital to the continuing improvement of the medical investigation of violent, suspicious and unusual deaths. Growing from a small nucleus of concerned physicians, NAME has expanded its scope to include physician medical examiners and coroners, medical death investigators and medicolegal system administrators from throughout the United States and other countries.

National Children's Alliance (NCA)

Annotation: The National Children's Alliance, previously known as National Network of Children's Advocacy Centers, is a not-for-profit organization that works to provide training, technical assistance, and networking opportunities to communities seeking to plan, establish, or improve children's advocacy centers. The organization stresses coordination of investigation and intervention services by bringing together professionals and agencies as a multidisciplinary team to create a child-focused approach to child abuse cases. Publications include Best Practices, a guide to establishing children's advocacy center programs, and a newsletter. The organization also sponsors conferences.

Sudden Infant Death Network of Ohio (SID Network)

Annotation: The Sudden Infant Death Network of Ohio was selected to act as the agent of Ohio Department of Health to assure parents are offered bereavement and supportive services and to monitor and assure that coroners and local health departments (LHDs) are compliant in responding to SIDS. The mission of the SID Network of Ohio is to work towards the reduction and eventual elimination of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and sudden unexpected infant death (SUID) through a multidisciplinary approach of promoting infant health and wellness, community outreach, education and training, and medical research. In addition, the SID Network is dedicated to providing supportive services to those who have been affected by the loss of a child, age 2 and under, from SIDS or other sudden infant death.
