DisAbled Women's Network Ontario (DAWN)

DiversityDataKids.org

Annotation: Diversitydatakids.org was founded to fill an urgent need for a rigorous, equity-focused research program with a clear mission to help improve child wellbeing and increase racial and ethnic equity in opportunities for children. Areas covered include early childhood; income, work, and family; and neighborhoods. It was established in 2014 with support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Family Equality Council

Annotation: Family Equality Council works to ensure equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transsexual families (LGBT) by building community, changing hearts and minds, and advancing social justice for all families. Services include providing support, skills and community needed for LGBT-headed families at all stages of life; leveraging the power of LGBT families—telling stories and driving change in communities, states and across the nation; focusing public and media attention on the love, strength and contributions of LGBT families; educating members of government, schools, faith-based communities, health care institutions and other social systems about how they can promote family equality for all; promoting a proactive policy agenda that sets the standard of support for LGBT-headed families in schools, faith institutions, health care and family creation and protection; defeating or changing laws at the local, state and federal level that compromise family equality for all; and partnering with other LGBT and broader social justice organizations to provide the greatest positive impact and to maximize resources.

Feminist Majority Foundation (FMF)

Annotation: The Feminist Majority Foundation (FMF) was founded in 1987 to promote women's equity, reproductive health, and nonviolence. Annotation: The Global Family Research Project (formerly the Harvard Family Research Project) is an independent, entrepreneurial, nonprofit organization that supports all families and communities in helping children find success in and out of school. The project creates a worldwide exchange of ideas to further the understanding and implementation of anywhere, anytime learning for all. The team provides leadership to promote strategies that build pathways for children's whole development across all learning environments.

Founded in 1980, HRC advocates on behalf of LGBT Americans, mobilizes grassroots actions in diverse communities, invests strategically to elect fair-minded individuals to office and educates the public about LGBT issues.

Learning Policy Institute

Annotation: The Learning Policy Institute conducts and communicates independent research to improve education policy and practice. Working with policymakers, researchers, educators, community groups, and others, the Institute seeks to advance evidence-based policies that support empowering and equitable learning for each and every child. Nonprofit and nonpartisan, the Institute connects policymakers and stakeholders at the local, state, and federal levels with evidence, ideas, and actions to strengthen the education system from preschool through college and career readiness.

National Coalition for Infant Health (NCfIH)

Annotation: The National Coalition for Infant Health (NCfIH) is a collaborative of professional, clinical, community health, and family support organizations focused on improving the lives of premature infants and their families. NCfIH promotes lifelong clinical, health, education, and supportive services needed by premature infants and their families. The program brings together parents, multidisciplinary leaders of national and community-based movements, nurses, social workers, neonatalogists, and others all working together to focus on equal access to a continuum of quality care, patient safety, education, and policy to meet a clear need at the family, community, state, and federal levels. The website provides resources for parents and professionals; information about events and observances including Preemie Matters, a national policy summit; and membership.
