Congenital Heart Information Network (CHIN)

Annotation: The Congenital Heart Information Network (CHIN) is an international organization that provides information, support services, and resources to families of children with congenital heart defects and acquired heart disease, adults with congenital heart defects, and the professionals who work with them. Services to consumers include referrals, inquiry responses, publications, financial assistance, and reference information. Members can join online support and discussion forums via either a link provided in the membership receipt, or from the Web site. CHIN publishes a newsletter and sponsors conferences.

Congenital Heart Public Health Consortium (CHPHC)

Annotation: The Congenital Heart Public Health Consortium (CHPHC) is a group of organizations uniting resources and efforts in public health activities to prevent the occurrence of congenital heart disease (CHD) and to enhance and prolong the lives of those with CHD through surveillance, population-based research, education, health promotion, advocacy, and policy development. The website provides information about the consortium's history, founding organizations, logic model, structure, committees, membership, and annual meeting. Additional contents include news, a calendar of events, a fact sheet, and information on CHD prevention, screening, and research. Information is available for clients, families, and health professionals.

Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young (AHA)

Annotation: The American Heart Association (AHA) Council on Cardiovascular Disease in the Young, a national voluntary organization, works to reduce the incidence of mortality and disability among children with cardiovascular disease. It supports the Heart Power! the Heart Health Education Program for school Children. Publications include Safeguarding Your Heart During Pregnancy, Innocent Heart Murmurs, If Your Child Has a Congenital Heart Defect, Your Child and Rheumatic Fever, Feeding Infants with Congenital Heart Disease, Abnormal Heart Rhythms—What Parents Should Know, Dental Care for Children with Heart Disease, Children and Smoking: A Message to Parents, Kawasaki Disease, High Blood Pressure in Children and Teenagers—What Parents Should Know, and seven If Your Child Needs a Heart Test tear sheets. Some materials are available in Spanish. The association also publishes a catalog and sponsors conferences.
