Annotation: The American Association of People with Disabilities was formed as an umbrella organization to provide an effective means of bringing people with disabilities together to leverage their power. The specific purposes for which the AAPD was formed include the following: to further the productivity, independence, full citizenship and total integration of people with disabilities into all aspects of society; to foster leadership among people with disabilities; to support full implementation and enforcement of disability non-discrimination laws; to conduct programs to enhance the lives of people with disabilities, including programs to reduce poverty and unemployment; assure adequate housing and access to and funding for assistive technology; to provide critical benefits and services to people with disabilities such as life, health and disability insurance; and to educate the public and government policymakers regarding issues affecting people with disabilities. Services provided to consumers include referrals, publications and reference information. AAPD publishes a quarterly newsletter, AAPD News.

Annotation: The National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth (NCWD/Youth) is composed of partners with expertise in disability, education, employment, and workforce development policy and practice. NCWD/Youth is housed at the Institute for Educational Leadership in Washington, DC. The Collaborative, funded through the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy, is charged with assisting state and local workforce development systems to integrate youth with disabilities into their service strategies.

Annotation: The Older Women's League (OWL) is a grassroots national membership organization that advocates for social and economic equity for midlife and older women. It provides policy papers, reports, testimony, state model bills, and action kits on various aspects of older women's health needs. The league is a convener of the Campaign for Women's Health, which brings together more than 80 national women's organizations to speak out on women's health needs, monitor national legislation, and conduct community activities. Additionally, it has developed the Caregiving: First Line of Defense project. Caregiving provides a link between health professionals and caregivers and focuses national attention on the needs of caregivers. Annotation: Power to Decide, previously the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unpllanned Pregnancy (NCPTUP), founded in 1996 as the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy, is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization which seeks to improve the well-being of children, youth, and families through reducing the rate of adolescent pregnancy by one third by the year 2005. In 2008, the mission was expanded to include unplanned pregnancies among 20-somethings. Resources for professionals include fact sheets, statistical compilations, journal articles, conference proceedings, and individual state data on adolescent pregnancy and adolescent pregnancy prevention. Services to consumers include publications addressed to parents, adolescents, and faith communities. Press releases are also provided to the media. The campaign has a resource bureau that fills requests for speakers, consultants, key contacts in each state, publications, and other resources; some materials are available in Spanish. The name was changed in December 2017.

Annotation: Reach Out is an information and support service using evidence based principles and technology to help teens and young adults facing tough times and struggling with mental health issues. All content is written by teens and young adults, for teens and young adults, to meet them where they are, and help them recognize their own strengths and use those strengths to overcome their difficulties and/or seek help if necessary. It is overseen by the Inspire USA Foundation and was modeled on the program Reach Out Australia. Reach Out provides information on mental health issues, shares personal experiences from teens and young adults and how they got through their issues, provides information about how to get help, and presents opportunities for individuals to contribute to the Reach Out community.

Annotation: The Teen Pregnancy Prevention Resource Center is an online collection of federal training materials and resources for professionals working to reduce teen pregnancy. Included are skill-building materials, direct service resources, podcasts, webinars, and e-learning modules. Annotation: The Trevor Project provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning (LGBTQ) adolescents and young adults ages 13-24. The project makes services available by telephone, chat, text, a website, and a social networking community. Services include educational workshops and trainings; a search engine for finding local, regional, and national resources; and tools and activities to supplement suicide prevention education in group or classroom settings. Annotation: The Youth Transition Funders Group is a network of grantmakers whose mission is to help all youth make a successful transition to adulthood by age 25. Goals include five critical outcomes: educational achievement in preparation for career and community participation, including a high school diploma, postsecondary degree and/or vocational certificate training; gainful employment and/or access to career training to achieve life-long economic success; connections to a positive support system - namely, guidance from family members and caring adults, as well as access to health, counseling and mental health services; the ability to be a responsible and nurturing parent; and the capacity to participate in the civic life of the community.
