ADA National Network

Annotation: The ADA National Network (formerly the Americans with Disabilities Act Regional Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers) consists of 10 regional centers that provide local assistance and foster implementation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) throughout the United States. The regional centers focus on the specific needs of the residents who reside in their service area. The Network develops projects and events of national significance and works closely with national partners. It conducts research, provides training, and produces a variety of publications. The ADA Knowledge Translation Center, which is also part of the Network, conducts systematic reviews of the current state of ADA related research and translating findings into plain language summaries for policymakers, technical reports, publications in peer-review journals, and presentations at national conferences.

United States - Mexico Border Health Commission (USMBHC)

Annotation: The United States-Mexico Border Health Commission (USMBHC) provides international leadership in efforts to identify key health issues in the U.S.-Mexico border region and develop programs to address specific problems. USMBHC organizes work groups and conferences; advocates for health improvements; and promotes public awareness. The commission also provides news and information on legislative action, immunization efforts, and other relevant topics and provides an electronic newsletter. USMBHC is comprised of the federal secretaries of health, the chief health officers of the ten border states, and prominent community health professionals from both nations. The commission was created as a binational health commission in 2000 with the signing of an agreement by the Secretary of Health of Mexico and the Secretary of Health and Human Services of the United States. In Dec. 2004 the commission was designated as a Public International Organization by Executive Order of the President. Its publications are available in English and Spanish.

Women's Policy, Inc. (WPI)

Annotation: Women's Policy, Inc. (WPI) serves as a source of information on women's issues in Congress. WPI tracks federal legislative action and provides nonpartisan public policy research , legislative analysis, and information services to policymakers, the press, and the public on issues important to women and families. WPI's publications cover a wide variety of issues, including child care, managed care, child support enforcement, retirement security, education, workplace fairness issues, family planning, health insurance reform, and tax policy. "The Source," an electronic newsletter, is posted weekly on WPI's Web site.
