Annotation: This webcast, held on October 8 and 9, 2009, explored the state of quality initiatives to prevent preterm birth and developed an action agenda to decrease the rate of preterm births that are not inevitable or medically necessary. The webcast, organized by the March of Dimes in collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Nurse Midwives, and the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses brought together a multidisciplinary group of health professionals, health insurers, policymakers, health purchasers, regulators, and concerned citizens. Participants shared ideas and challenges, described model programs, and recommended quality-improvement action plans. The conference flyer and program are available for download. Slides and audio of conference sessions are available to registered users.
