Annotation: This report provides information on Nevada’s state oral health plan. The report describes the Nevada Oral Health Program and offers information on the Advisory Committee on the State Program for Oral Health (AC4OH) and development of the oral health plan. The burdens of oral disease nationally and in Nevada are discussed, and key findings and priority areas (policy and infrastructure, prevention and screening, access to and quality of oral health care, and workforce capacity) are presented. The report also describes the process that AC4OH will use to implement plan objectives and measure progress toward them.

Annotation: This report summarizes the results of the 2021 Synopses of State Dental Public Health Programs questionnaire, which the Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors distributes to the 50 states and the District of Columbia annually. The purpose of the questionnaire is to obtain current information from each state on demographic, infrastructure, workforce, and administrative factors that impact the state’s oral health program. Annotation: This Medicaid policy cheat sheet explores what states are doing to improve maternal health outcomes and what additional opportunities exist. Some strategies suggested include: extending postpartum coverage; enhancing benefits to cover evidence-based models, such as home visiting programs; developing value-based payment models that reward health outcomes and close racial and ethnic disparity gaps; and enhancing data collection on maternal mortality and morbidity. The document also provides examples of notable policies that have been implemented by states, such as payment reforms, models of care delivery, managed care organization data reporting requirements, midwifery-led care, doula services, postpartum coverage expansion, use of telemedicine, and provider bias training.

Part II is a matrix of state oral health program roles for each of the 10 essential public health services. Annotation: This report explores how community-based maternal support services provided by community-based doulas and maternity community health workers can improve maternal health outcomes. It also highlights the results of a national environmental scan of organizations that are actively working toward eliminating maternal health disparities and building community connections through the community-based maternal support model. Annotation: This report provides information on steps Connecticut has taken to promote oral health equity in the state, including by ensuring that the majority of its residents have access to community fluoridated water, offering dental benefits to children and adults through the HUSKY health insurance program, and providing oral health care in schools. Information is included on the status of oral health in Connecticut as well as on oral health among children, children and adolescents with special health care needs, children and adolescents from families with low incomes, adolescents, adults, pregnant women, and older adults. A discussion of Connecticut’s oral health infrastructure is also provided.

Annotation: This environmental scan report examines the telehealth capacity of maternal and child health public health systems in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The report presents findings from interviews with 57 representatives from 39 programs across 26 states and 2 territories, focusing on Title V and Children and Youth with Special Health Care Needs programs, home visiting services, newborn screening functions, and early hearing detection and intervention. Key findings include significant variance in telehealth implementation levels across jurisdictions, widespread connectivity challenges for families and programs, positive perceptions of telehealth as a viable service modality despite current challenges, lack of evidence to inform decision-making about telehealth continuation and expansion, and need for improved mechanisms to connect providers with available training resources. Program-specific sections detail current telehealth usage, capacity challenges, gaps in services, and opportunities catalyzed by the pandemic, highlighting both successes and barriers encountered in rapidly transitioning to remote service delivery models.
