Bradshaw KK, ed. 1984. The use of case mix based prospective payment for inpatient pediatric hospital care: Conference proceedings. Rockville, MD: National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions, and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 125 pp.

Annotation: This conference was convened in response to Congressional efforts to control rising hospital costs through incentives within the payment mechanism. It was held in Alexandria, VA, on June 14-15, 1984. Because pediatric hospital care differs greatly from that of adults, incentives in a payment system for child health care need to make allowances for such specialized care. Topics covered during the conference included diagnosis related groups and the effect of the prospective payment system from the perspective of various health professionals.
