Annotation: These annotated slides outline a presentation on prevention efforts to improve fetal and infant mortality using an approach, called Perinatal Periods of Risk (PPOR), developed by the World Health Organization for developing countries and applying concepts to urban efforts in the United States. It highlights five major steps: (1) engaging community partners, (2) mapping feto-infant mortality, (3) focusing on reducing the overall feto-infant mortality rate, (4) examining potential opportunity gaps, and (5) targeting further investigations and prevention efforts. 2025. Children's healthy weight capacity building project: Wisconsin. , 2 pp.

Annotation: This report highlights Wisconsin's accomplishments in the Children's Healthy Weight State Capacity Building Project. Key initiatives included offering the University of Minnesota's Systems Approaches for Healthy Communities course to 51 local and tribal health agencies; engaging MCH Nutrition Trainees and UW-Madison Population Health Fellows to expand program capacity; conducting Community Conversations in diverse communities to inform PSE changes and the Title V Needs Assessment; converting and translating nutrition assessment tools and linking them to the state's childcare Quality Rating and Improvement System; and intentionally identifying and tracking partnerships to sustain efforts beyond the project period.

Annotation: This two-part policy tool is designed to support a facilitated process for state oral health stakeholders to collectively make decisions about priorities based on suggested criteria. It also provides a planning checklist to move forward strategically. Part one assists state oral health programs in assessing opportunities for socio-political, policy, and systems change. It considers scientific data collection, professional judgment, community input, and feasibility in needs assessment and policy development to improve oral health resources and services. Part two focuses on developing policy actions or systems-development plans to take advantage of or create new opportunities to advance the public’s oral health. The guidebook contains a series of templates that can be reproduced and adapted to meet specific project needs. This tool was previously issued as "The policy tool guidebook: Steps for creating a successful oral health policy tool session" (2009).

Developed through collaboration between the Altarum Institute and the National Center for a System of Services for CYSHCN, the tool arranges the indicators according to four critical areas as outlined in the Blueprint: health equity, family and child well-being and quality of life, access to services and supports, and financing of services. State/jurisdiction Title V programs are invited to use the tool to better understand how their work aligns with the Blueprint for Change and to monitor their progress during ongoing needs assessment activities. Annotation: This report presents findings from a statewide survey and interviews on patient experiences of maternity care in Montana as part of a broader maternal health system needs assessment. It measures experiences of respectful care and autonomy in decision-making using two patient-informed, valid, and reliable scales - the Mothers on Respect Index and the Mothers Autonomy in Decision Making Scale. While most participants reported high levels of respectful care, about a third experienced low-to-moderate levels. Patients with social risk factors, such as food insecurity, housing instability, and social isolation, reported lower levels of respectful care and autonomy compared to those without these risk factors. The report provides recommendations for healthcare systems, providers, and community organizations to strengthen practices that support respectful, person-centered care. These include using the assessment tools to inform quality improvement, engaging in provider education on bias and shared decision-making, and building patient support networks.

Annotation: This statewide home visiting needs assessment (1) Identifies communities at risk for poor health outcomes among mothers, infants, children, and adolescents; (2) describes the quality and capacity of existing programs or initiatives for early childhood home visitation in the state; and (3) addresses the state's capacity for providing substance abuse treatment and counseling services to individuals and families in need of such treatment or services. The assessment reports on rates of poverty, infant and fetal mortality, low birth weight, maternal mortality, racial and ethnic birth disparities, teen births, maternal depression, well child care, fiscal health, crime, domestic violence, high school dropout, substance abuse, illicit drug use, prenatal substance abuse exposure, unemployment, child maltreatment, and early intervention in the state of Virginia. Indicators used to assess risk across the state are provided in table format.
