Annotation: This report examines the potential effects of dental therapists and hygienist-therapists on the productivity and profits of private dental practices. Contents include scenarios of how types of health professionals could change client capacity and revenues of private practices. The economic tool – the Productivity and Profit Calculator – used to create the scenarios is provided separately to help advocates, dentists, and policymakers assess the unique variables from their states or communities to better understand the potential effects of adding allied health professionals to the oral health team.
