Most of the recipes can be prepared in less than 30 minutes. The first section includes nutrition information, including the food pyramid, nutrient labeling, and a discussion of fat in the diet. In the second section, each recipe includes an extensive nutrient analysis.

Annotation: This book discusses nutrition for children in the Pacific Islands. It is written in a clear, easy-to-understand manner and contains black and white photographs and illustrations. It covers topics such as food and the body; protein for bodybuilding and repair; carbohydrates, fats, and oils for energy and warmth; vitamins and minerals for protection from disease; breastfeeding and bottle feeding; and much more. The book includes four appendices that include the meanings of some of the words used in the book, nutritive values of some Pacific Island foods, recommended dietary allowances, and photo food charts labeled with the words for the items pictured in several local languages. Languages of the charts include English, Ponapean, Kosraean, Trukese, Marshallese, Yapese-Ulithian, and Palauan. The book concludes with an index.

Annotation: The purpose of this report is to point out the public health concern of the eating patterns of the 20th century. Six dietary goals are explained relating to carbohydrates, fat, cholesterol, sugar, and salt consumption. The effects of the goals beyond nutrition concerns is discussed. Recommendations for governmental action are given.

Annotation: This report is intended to review the fundamental information on the role of fat in human nutrition, to consider whether changes in the kind or quantity of food fat would be beneficial to the health of Americans in the light of existing knowledge, to ascertain whether the necessary facts are available from which to draw conclusions, and to point out where research is needed to bring for the the necessary information. Report sections cover chemistry of food fats, fat metabolism, nutritional role of food fats, cardiovascular disease and dietary fat, and the need for expanded research on fat.
