Annotation: This book provides readers with a basic understanding of drugs and their effects on mind and body, stages of chemical dependency, and reasons students take drugs. The publication addresses methods of preventing student abuse of drugs and alcohol and what to do about it when abuse occurs. Descriptions of a number of activities, materials, and programs that schools have found useful are included. The book also presents an overview of treatment programs and a review of the school's role in aftercare and reentry to school for recovering drug abusers. Resources for students and teachers appear throughout the book.
