The document describes barriers LGBT people face and recommends changes that will facilitate success in overcoming them. Topics covered include access to quality health care services, cancer, educational and community-based programs, health communication, HIV/AIDS, immunization and infectious diseases, mental health and mental disorders, nutrition and weight, public health infrastructure, sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse, tobacco use, and violence prevention. The document includes five appendices that contain recommendations, acronyms, LGBT definitions, resources, and contributors.

Annotation: This paper recounts the process used at the Brooklyn Pediatric AIDS Network in adapting the principles of case management to the services the network provides to children and adolescents at risk for HIV and AIDS and their families. The paper reviews the six-step case management process: 1) identification and intake, 2) assessing the child's and caretaker's needs, 3) developing the service plan, 4) implementing the service plan, 5) linkage of clients and resources, and 6) monitoring services and reassessment. Topics include building and maintaining a community consortium, case management, health services, prevention education, client advocacy, project financing and the role of the media.

Annotation: This interactive map illustrates the prevalence of HIV in the United States. The national, state, and local map views allow users to visually explore the HIV epidemic alongside critical resources such as HIV testing center locations, HIV treatment center locations, and National Institutes of Health-funded HIV Prevention & Vaccine Trials Sites. The map also lets users filter HIV prevalence data by race/ethnicity, sex and age, and see how HIV prevalence is related to various social determinants of health such as educational attainment and poverty. The content is available in English and Spanish.
